5. Khalid Kareem, 4-star, DE

I’m going to take a bold approach with this one. Kareem was originally committed to Michigan State back in February, but later rescinded his pledge, opening up his recruitment because of the fact that he felt it was too early.

Kareem later received offers from Alabama, Nebraska, Missouri and Arkansas, forcing him to rethink his original commitment and he decided it was best for him to just be more selective and give other schools a fair shot before closing up for the next year and a half.

Many were quick to jump on the kid for not knowing what he wants and calling him out for being “just like the rest” of college football recruits these days — unfaithful. However, it was the correct choice because Dantonio preaches to these kids to know for a fact that they want to be Spartans before making the commitment.

Kareem was smart enough to go back on his pledge quickly enough to make sure he wasn’t disrespecting the program by visiting other schools on the regular.

The Farmington Hills Harrison star defensive end has been recruited heavily by the “Dream Team” as they are hoping he will make the correct choice and pick green. Dantonio has even offered a number of top players at his same position for the class, hoping that will speed up the process as well.

Overall, I think that Kareem will go back with his original decision and pick Michigan State as it may be his best chance to play early as well as head to the next level.

Predicted decision date: Early-mid August (Note: this is just a projected time frame by the author)
