Michigan State basketball has some of the best fans on the planet, contrary to what you might read from rival fans and others on social media

The Spartans always show up for big road games and neutral site events even though Auburn did pack the arena in that Elite Eight showdown a couple of weeks ago. Still, Spartan fans are considered some of the best and most passionate in the country, and for good reason.

In the NIL era, this is critical for the athletes.

Fanbases that are more passionate and show up more for their players are willing to spend more on NIL initiatives. Don't believe me? All you have to do is look at who the top earners were from the NIL Store in the month of March.

Two Spartans appear in the top 10.

As you can see, the obvious names like Cooper Flagg and Walter Clayton Jr. are right up there at the top while Tre Holloman was No. 7 and Jase Richardson came in at No. 10 for earnings in the month of March. Not too shabby for what rival fans call a "regional program".

Fans showed up for Holloman following that brush up with Phat Phat Brooks and LJ Cason at center court during the season finale against Michigan and defended him to the death. While he ultimately ended up hitting the transfer portal, Holloman was a fan favorite and that shows with his No. 7 ranking on the list of top earners at the NIL store for March.

And the Richardson mention is for obvious reasons. He was one of the best players in the country for the final few weeks of the year. Now, he's a projected lottery pick.

While neither of these guys will be suiting up in the green and white next year, Izzo can show this to any recruit and tell them that they'll be set monetarily if they choose to play for the Spartans.
