If you sat down to watch some NFL preseason action on Friday night, you would've seen three former Michigan State football players in action, looking to make 53-man rosters.

There was Cody White with the Seattle Seahawks who finished second on his team in receiving against the Chiefs, catching two passes for 26 yards. He looked like a capable depth option at the receiver position, and he's finally hoping to catch on with an NFL roster.

But two other Spartans stood out above the rest: Nate Carter and Kendell Brooks.

Carter and Brooks squared off on Friday night in Atlanta as the Falcons hosted the Titans for what turned out to be an intense battle. The Titans ended up hanging on for the win, but not before the two former Michigan State players shined.

It actually didn't take long for them to make their presence felt on Friday night. Brooks kicked off the scoring with a 53-yard pick-six on a beautifully read defensive play. He picked off Easton Stick on a short out route and took it to the house to make it 6-0 Titans.

Brooks would finish the game with that pick to go along with a tackle.

As for Carter, he got his first extended opportunity to earn a spot on the roster, and he didn't disappoint, leading all rushers with 63 yards and a touchdown, including this 43-yard burst through the line for the Falcons' first touchdown of the game.

With some solid blocking, Carter can be a legitimate NFL running back, and I've said that since he committed to Michigan State from UConn. He just never got the blocking he deserved in East Lansing.

Great performances from these two Spartans as they pursue their NFL futures.
