Michigan State football made the top four of three-star 2018 offensive tackle Jordan McFadden from Roebuck, S.C.

Adding depth in both the offensive and defensive trenches has become a priority for Michigan State and head coach Mark Dantonio. With all of the attrition in those areas over the past two years, the Spartans need to make sure to stock up in the coming classes.

Just this past week, the Spartans received some positive news from a top 2018 offensive tackle recruit. In fact, three-star tackle Jordan McFadden (from South Carolina) named his top four schools and the Spartans made the cut.

McFadden released his top schools list via Twitter on Thursday.

Michigan State and Rutgers are the two Big Ten schools on his radar while Duke and Virginia Tech are representing the other half in the ACC. The Spartans have never truly dipped into the state of South Carolina for a recruit, but McFadden likes what they offer.

Dantonio offered the three-star recruit back in March and if he can get to campus in the next few months, or even for an official in the fall, Michigan State could have a decent shot. Until then, though, he remains a lean toward Virginia Tech.

The 6-foot-5, 280-pound tackle moves well for his size and could still afford to add some weight in order to fit in at the tackle position in the green and white. Still, he’s aggressive and plays to the whistle, which is a coach’s dream.

McFadden is ranked the No. 967 recruit in the 2018 class and the 87th-best offensive tackle, according to 247Sports. He holds over a dozen FBS offers.
