NBA legend Vince Carter has taken a liking to former Michigan State basketball star, and current rookie, Deyonta Davis.

By now, you probably know about Deyonta Davis’ personality. The former Michigan State basketball star was as quiet as they came while in East Lansing and it took Tom Izzo months before he could get him to open up.

Making the leap to the NBA after just one collegiate season seemed like a mistake, especially since Davis fell from potential lottery pick to the second round. However, he landed in the perfect spot as the Grizzlies have really taken him in as part of the family. Namely, Vince Carter.

According to ESPN‘s The Jump, reported by Rob Lopez of defpen.com, Carter has a room in his house for Davis any time he wants to come visit and stay.

Grizzlies’ head coach David Fizdale spoke about the type of role model Carter has been and that’s when he revealed that he had built a room in his “mansion” for Davis whenever he gets sick of his apartment.

Davis averaged just 1.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.5 blocks per game this season with the Grizzlies, but Carter took him under his wing and believes in his future.

Graham Couch of Lansing State Journal got a chance to speak to Carter about Davis a couple of months back and he had nothing but good things to say.

"“Believe it or not, with the age difference, it still works. … He wants to be a good player in this league, and he has the potential, I think we all see that. You see him in practice every day, you see his athleticism. You just say, ‘Hey, with your athleticism, let’s school you on how the game works and how you can make a lot of money in this league.’ And he’s been open and willing.”"

The vets, specifically Carter, have definitely taken a liking to Davis.
