Michigan State football signee Lashawn Paulino-Bell, a three-star defensive end, was involved in a jet skiing accident on Monday.

The months leading up to leaving for college can be a time of celebration. Kids are saying bye to their friends and going on final trips before the busy college years roll around. Future Michigan State football star Lashawn Paulino-Bell was doing just that on Monday.

The Pompano Beach, Fla., native was apparently jet skiing in the Bahamas this week when he was involved in a serious accident. Michigan State’s three-star defensive end signee was then air-lifted to a Florida hospital where he was treated for “internal injuries,” according to Sean Scherer of 247Sports.

Florida quarterback Jake Allen expressed his concern for the Spartans’ incoming freshman.

Fortunately, the injuries don’t appear to be life threatening and he’s reportedly in stable condition. Still, this is something you never want to hear about regarding any young life. You can bet Mark Dantonio is in close contact with Paulino-Bell and his family and he’ll be thinking of him until he gets better.

This is just another hit that the football program has taken as the past year has been one nightmare after the next. Hopefully Paulino-Bell, the 44th-best weak-side defensive end in the 2017 class, can make a full recovery with no long-term injuries.

Michigan State will bring him along slowly, if need be, but he’s the type of competitor who will want to go full speed from day one.
