Michigan State recruiting extended an offer to four-star 2019 defensive end Jason Bargy from Momence, Ill.

The Michigan State football recruiting trail has been cold for some time now and it’s mostly due to the fact basketball has taken center stage. In fact, the basketball National Signing Day begins on Wednesday and there are plenty of Spartan targets left on the board.

However, football recruiting doesn’t take breaks even though it’s been quiet. In fact, Mark Dantonio and the staff extended an offer to four-star 2019 defensive end Jason Bargy on Sunday.

Yes, you read that correctly, we are already looking forward to the 2019 crop of recruits. It’s still very early for those soon-to-be juniors, but Dantonio likes what he sees in the defensive end from Momence, Ill.

According to his 2016 highlight video, he recorded 61 total tackles, seven tackles for loss and five sacks as a sophomore while also rushing for over 1,200 yards. He’s an athletic, aggressive defensive end who can also carry the ball effectively. That’s quite the combo.

Not many 6-foot-4, 225-pound high school stars can play on the defensive line as well as in the backfield, but Bargy is that unique. He has strong hands at the point of attack, an innate ability to shed blockers and a nose for the ball. He seems to be the complete package.

Bargy is ranked the No. 82 recruit in the 2019 class as well as the seventh-best weak-side defensive end and top prospect from Illinois, according to 247Sports. He’s also been offered by Illinois, Purdue and Notre Dame.
