Michigan State basketball exacted revenge on Ohio State Tuesday night and here are the Spartans’ highlights and top players.

Michigan State’s first loss to Ohio State about a month ago was crucial. The Spartans were 4-1 in conference play, but the 0-4 Buckeyes stole one. The Spartans felt as if they were the better team, but Thad Matta’s Buckeyes out-toughed Michigan State down the stretch and came out on top, 72-67.

Tuesday was a different story as Michigan State exacted revenge on the thin-benched Buckeyes. Alvin Ellis III got the offense going early on and the four freshmen did the rest. The Spartans won their third game in four tries, improving to 16-10 on the season and 8-5 in conference play.

Tom Izzo deserves some recognition for putting ESPN college basketball analyst Dan Dakich in his place during a post-game rant Tuesday night. Well done, coach.

Three Stars

  1. Miles Bridges had another impressive game, scoring 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds and two blocks. He also added more highlight reel dunks. Is there anything he can’t do?
  2. Alvin Ellis III got hot early on, scoring 15 points on five 3-pointers in the first half but added just one more bucket, finishing with 18 points. He also had seven rebounds.
  3. This last one was tough to choose, so it’s a tie between Nick Ward and Cassius Winston. Ward had 15 points and five rebounds while Winston finished with eight points and nine assists.
