Details emerge regarding death of Mike Salder, Sam Foltz
Details regarding the car accident which killed former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler and Nebraska punter Sam Foltz have emerged.
Sad news struck Spartan and Cornhusker players, coaches and fans everywhere on Sunday morning as we learned that former punters Mike Sadler and Sam Foltz were killed in a car accident while leaving a punting camp in Wisconsin.
While we knew it was a deadly car crash which killed the two fan favorites, we didn’t know what had actually caused the accident. Details have since emerged from a police report via the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department:
In case the writing is too small to read, it states that Sadler was driving the vehicle with Sam Foltz and a second passenger when the car lost control on wet pavement, veered off the road and struck a tree. Both Sadler and Foltz were pronounced dead upon arrival of the scene while the third passenger is still being treated.
It’s never easy losing a life so young and so full of hope and promise for the future, but Sadler’s untimely death is extremely hard to swallow. He was one of the best personalities in Michigan State Football history and will forever be remembered for his quirkiness and ability to make people laugh on the spot.
May he rest in peace and pull off as many fake punts in the sky as he would like. He perfectly encompassed what it meant to be a Spartan and everyone loved him. He will truly be missed by all.
Thoughts and prayers go out to his family as well as the family of Sam Foltz.
