Earlier this summer, EA Sports teased the return of a college hoops video game. It was an exciting moment for everyone, especially those who have craved the game since it left us over a decade ago.

Michigan State fans were excited to be able to recruit with Tom Izzo and lead the Spartans to the promised land. The overall experience of a college basketball video game is unmatched, and it was something that everyone was looking forward to.

Unfortunately, EA Sports hit a snag and opted out of the college hoops game just months later.

Since then, 2K Games has announced that it plans on implementing a college basketball mode in one of its next versions of the NBA game. That’s right, according to reports, the NBA 2K series will feature over 100 programs in the 2027 version of the game.

One of those programs will be Michigan State, at least according to a recent post on X.

It looks like Michigan State will be in that expanded 2027 version of NBA 2K, but this emergence of the “scan truck” on campus, working with some Spartan players over the past week may indicate that the program could be one of the few featured in an update to 2K26.

Either way, it looks like Spartan fans will get to play as their favorite players in the near future, and considering guys like Jeremy Fears Jr. and Nick Sanders were scanned, that is likely to be soon.

Keep an eye out for the Spartans in that update to 2K26.
