Kirk Cousins could be on the move yet again. The Atlanta Falcons made the decision to bench the veteran quarterback and former Michigan State star for rookie gunslinger Michael Penix Jr.
This is yet another win for Penix Jr. over the Spartans. Even after he leaves college, he still hurts Michigan State in some way or another. He dominated the Spartans while he was at Indiana and Washington and now he's replacing Michigan State's only starting quarterback in the NFL as a rookie.
With this move, it feels like the Falcons will move on from Cousins this offseason and let the veteran quarterback go somewhere that he can start.
There have been some interesting rumored destinations, but where do I feel like he'd fit best?
Cousins is owed about $27.5 million for 2025 but according to USA Today, if he's still on the roster after March 16, he'll be owed even more. Could he start a redemption tour elsewhere? If he does, I think it'll be at one of these three spots.
1. Cleveland Browns
While it has long thought to opt to play quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, Jameis Winston has shown that is not quite the case in the right scenario.
Browns fans are sick and tired of Deshaun Watson and Winston is an unrestricted free agent next year. So this move could make the most sense, especially since head coach Kevin Stefanski was Kirk Cousins' offensive coordinator with Minnesota in 2019 when he had over 3,600 yards with 26 touchdowns and only six interceptions and a career-best passer rating.
Cleveland also has some solid pieces and a strong defense, making the Browns likely a plus quarterback away from making a playoff run.
Cousins could be that guy.
Plus, how fun would it be to see a rematch between Cousins and Russell Wilson for the AFC North division title in 2025? It'd be like 2011 all over again.
