What is a "Spartan Dawg for Life" and why doesn't it hold true anymore?

"Spartan Dawgs for Life" is a phrase that seems to be losing its luster. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of great and important Spartan Dawgs. Darien Harris is a great example of one. He's still one and continued to do everything he can to help his alma mater as an assistant athletic director in charge of NIL strategy.

I bring Harris up because he got a little heated with some Spartan fans on social media, who didn't like seeing one of the newest Spartans to hit the transfer portal.

That player was Dillon Tatum who has been a major locker room guy throughout his tenure in the green and white.

I don't blame Tatum for looking for a new opportunity. That's what 'college' athletics has come down to. It's a free market at this point. What I do have a problem with is the fact these transfers can call themselves Spartan Dawgs for Life.

No offense to Harris, or any of the others that have carried that phrase for life. Some of these guys aren't. Is Jaden Mangham? He sold out to the other place down the road. I'm sorry he surrendered his Spartan Dawg card the minute he decided to go over to the enemy.

All this transfer nonsense has completely ruined faith in anything at this point. I'm a Spartan for Life, and I can't bring myself to not hate the way this is all going. Whoever is here come the start of the fall is who I'll pull for.

Is it really that crazy to see why fans don't care anymore? Everyone preaches that we need to do everything we can to help the players, but what good is it, when they still end up leaving. It's a messy situation whatever way you look at it.

I blame the previous regime for making SD4L the butt of a bad joke.
