Watch Tom Izzo personally call fans to tell them the Munn Tailgate is back (Video)

Getting a chance to meet Tom Izzo is a special experience, but getting a phone call from the Hall of Fame head coach is a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

For some fans, they got to live that once-in-a-lifetime moment this week.

New athletic director J Batt worked hard to make sure the football game-day experience improves this season, and he did so by bringing back an old tradition of tailgating at Munn Field. It was something that fans loved throughout the years, but it was discontinued, much to the dismay of thousands of Spartan fans.

Well, Batt brought it back and Izzo got the opportunity to call some fans who wrote strongly-worded comments about the removal of Munn Field as a tailgating spot in the past.

Michigan State Athletics posted one of his phone calls, and the fan's reaction was priceless.

"Hey Brian, Tom Izzo, how are you?"

That's probably the last thing Brian expected to hear when he answered a call from an unknown number. He couldn't contain his excitement when he heard the distinct voice of Izzo on the other line, and he was even more excited when the Hall of Fame head coach shared the exciting news about the return of the Munn Tailgate.

Not many schools do it like Michigan State. What other schools have their legendary head coach call fans to break some news regarding a football game-day experience upgrade? I'm going to guess not many -- if any at all.

Izzo is a man of the people, and judging from this phone call, he loves to go out and meet fans on football Saturdays, so this tailgate returning right next to his office is also a plus for him.

What a wild phone call to receive.

So if you see an unknown number calling, answer it because it might just be Tom Izzo.
