George Blaha is known for many things, whether it be the voice of Michigan State football in the fall, or the face of the Detroit Pistons on TV. The legendary play-by-play announcer just received some incredible news this week and it looks like he'll be known for one more thing.

Blaha who has dedicated his incredible talent on the radio and TV for decades, has been selected to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

For a guy who has spent well over five decades in broadcasting, it's the ultimate honor. Now in his 49th season as the voice of the Pistons, will receive the Hall of Fame's 2025 Curt Gowdy Electronic Award. That award is given to those who make significant impacts on the game of basketball through electronic or print media.

Blaha has made an impact for listeners and viewers with his nack for refering to players by their first-name on broadcasts, almost like he was best friends with everyone. Some of his more memorable Pistons work was calling players by their nicknames, including Richard 'Rip' Hamilton and Dennis " The Worm" Rodman.

His famous calls aren't just limited to Pistons basketball. Every Spartan knows the enthusiasm he says "Touchdown MSU" whenever the Spartans reach the endzone. Sure he's been the voice of the Pistons for 49 seasons now. He's also been a part of Michigan State football for nearly as long.

George got the gig in 1971, when Duffy Daugherty was still at the helm. Despite plenty of years, Blaha still remains the voice of Michigan State football to this day. He's certainly seen a lot between his Pistons and Spartans.

He has witnessed plenty of highs in his Hall of Fame career, witness the Spartans winning six Big Ten titles, a Rose Bowl victory, College Football Playoff appearance, and 12 total bowl wins over 53 seasons with the Spartans.

Even at 79 years old, George hasn't lost his step. So for him to receive the honor of going into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, is well deserved. Congrats George, keep doing what you're doing, you have always been one of my favorite broadcasters of all time. MSU is lucky to have you.
