Michigan State got some good news on Saturday afternoon which followed up a disappointing development with Jordan Hall being ruled out for the Eastern Michigan game.
Pat Fitzgerald and the Spartans will be game-planning for Eastern Michigan without Hall but he’ll also be hosting arguably his top remaining recruiting target in the 2027 class.
Gideon Gash, the younger brother of Samson and Caleb Gash, is reportedly on campus with a handful of Michigan State’s 2027 commits.
He was spotted on the sidelines taking a picture with the Spartans’ commits by Corey Robinson of 247Sports.

The Spartans need to have a huge game and a big season if they’re hoping to flip the four-star athlete recruit from Texas Tech because the Red Raiders are one of the best trams in college football.
Getting him on campus is a huge development, though.
It’s especially huge because On3 reported earlier in the day that Gash is narrowing his list down to a few schools which includes Michigan State. The Spartans are joined by Texas Tech obviously, as well as Oklahoma in his final list of potential suitors even though he’s still committed to the Red Raiders.
If Michigan State can impress him on his visit Saturday while he develops a relationship with the Spartans’ 2027 commits and then go on to make a bowl game, Fitzgerald would have to feel pretty good about where he stands with the No. 53 recruit in the nation and No. 2 in-state prospect.
Gideon Gash could be Pat Fitzgerald’s first “big fish”
Fitzgerald has already won a couple of impressive recruiting battles, holding onto Gideon’s older brother, Samson, with other Power Four programs pushing for him to flip and he also landed the nation’s No. 212 overall recruit, Caleb Johnson, over reigning national champion Indiana.
Neither of those recruiting wins really compare to what Gideon would be if he flipped from Texas Tech to Michigan State and it would give the first-year head coach a ton of momentum on the trail.
Like I said, though, Michigan State will need to likely make a bowl game if they’re going to flip the four-star prospect from Texas Tech and that’s an uphill battle as Vegas has the win total set at 3.5. There’s not a lot of belief in the Spartans on a national level, but Fitzgerald can really boost recruiting by proving everyone wrong.
Gash would be a heck of an addition to the class and the first “big fish” of hopefully many.
