The showdown between Michigan State and Ole Miss was a back-and-forth contest, but in the end, Tom Izzo and his players were able to make the necessary plays late to come out on top. Once again, Izzo has powered his team to the Elite Eight.

This is nothing new for Izzo, easily one of the best college coaches of his generation. The Spartans have surprised plenty of people with how strong they have looked this postseason. Let's be real, plenty of haters didn't think they'd advance to the Elite Eight.

With that said, Izzo is not satisfied with just being one of the last eight teams standing. Nope, instead, he has made it more than clear to his entire locker room that there's more work to be done and anything short of a national title will be considered a bit of a disappointment:

Tom Izzo is focused on winning another national title with Michigan State

"You know, Elite Eights are great too, but I'll go back to my statement from the beginning - we don't put up banners for great eights. We put up banners for championships and Final Fours."

So, yes, on one hand Izzo is proud of his guys and the group is ready to push for a trip to the Final Four. If that goal gets reached, awesome. However, Izzo wants to win another natty while leading the program. He got that job done in 2000.

Then in 2009, he was close to doing so again, but the Spartans ended up being the national runner-up after losing in the title game to North Carolina. Throughout his incredible career with MSU, he has been to the Final Four eight times.

Goodness. Izzo knows what it takes to win at this level and he's always going to motivate his guys to be at their best. Next up is a showdown with either Auburn or Michigan. The winner of that showdown on Sunday, already scheduled for 5:05 p.m. ET, will indeed be headed to the Final Four. If all goes to plan, Izzo and Co. will have three more games left to play this season.
