Michigan State women's basketball has had some of the best seasons in years. Under head coach Robyn Fralick, the team continues to play together, and some of the team's biggest stars' confidence continues to grow.
Theryn Hallock, has really become just as important as the likes of Grace VanSlooten and Julia Ayrault. Both have been big-time scorers.
Now add in Hallock scoring the ball with confidence and the sky is the limit. Sure they have come up short twice in Big Ten play on the road. But Hallock has delivered in those games. She had 20 in their loss at Maryland, and then had 18 in the loss at Nebraska.
Since that close defeat by the Cornhuskers, MSU has won three in a row, and their last two both away from East Lansing. Hallock has also scored at least nine points in the last four games in a row.
Which made her stellar performance in the Spartans' 86-68 victory at Illinois that much more special. Theryn was able to go off for 26 points. By far the best-scoring performance of her career.
After being the sixth woman of the year last season, it's clear Hallock has taken the next step, since becoming a starter this season.
The Grand Rapids native set a new career high for the second time this month. She previously set it on New Year's Day when she scored 24 in a win over Purdue.
It was a great effort from Theryn, as her 26 along with 24 from VanSlooten off the bench helped the Spartans pick up win No. 15 on the year and their fifth Big Ten win. It also keeps them just two games back from USC and UCLA atop the standings.
They have plenty of tough games to come, but to see Hallock scoring in a big way, is only going to help this team moving forward.
Michigan State basketball is rocking, on both sides. When was the last time both teams were sitting in such a good position at the same time?
