For about as long as he’s been in the league, Draymond Green has wanted to team up with his good friend — and arguably the greatest player of all time — LeBron James.

Draymond has been around for several LeBron team changes, going from the Miami Heat back to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014 and then from his hometown team to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018. The former Michigan State star is now trying to lure him away from Los Angeles for potentially the final season of his career.

Both Draymond and LeBron have four NBA titles and they might just chase No. 5 together.

After declining his $27 million player option to become a free agent, Draymond’s hope was that he would convince LeBron to sign with the Golden State Warriors after also joining free agency. He would have to ditch the Lakers where he’s been for eight seasons but that wasn’t a guarantee. It just goes to show how much Draymond wants LeBron at Golden State because he’s willing to take a pay cut to bring in his GOAT.

Well, the stars are beginning to align the way Draymond wanted as LeBron incformed the Lakers on Tuesday that they can plan for a future without him because he’ll be spending 2026-27 with a different organization. He’s holding off retirement for at least one more year to chase one final ring.

This news is currently breaking social media, racking up about 150,000 likes within an hour of NBA insider Shams Charania posting it.

Draymond Green masterclass?

Can we call this another Draymond masterclass? The first was when he was able to convince Kevin Durant to join the Warriors and then the two won a couple of rings together.

If LeBron does end up signing with the Warriors, Green will deserve all the praise for restructuring his contract in a way that would allow Golden State to sign him. It doesn’t hurt that Draymond and LeBron share the same agent.

All signs are pointing to LeBron joining the Warriors unless he just wants to go home to Cleveland and ride off in the sunset with one of the Eastern Conference’s top teams with whom he started his legendary NBA career and won a title with.

A big four of Draymond, LeBron, Anthony Davis, and Steph Curry wouldn’t really be fair for the rest of the league. If the Warriors do trade for Davis, it’s likely that Jimmy Butler would be included somehow, but if they were somehow able to keep him (I don’t think it’d be possible in that scenario), Golden State would be the clear title favorites in 2026-27.

Yes, this is a potential Draymond masterclass.
