Man, a lot went wrong for Michigan State on Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis, but at least fans were treated to a rare 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff, which they’ve been begging for all year.
Well, the Michigan State vs Penn State kickoff time will make them happy.
For the first time since the Youngstown State game, Michigan State will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET for a home game. Spartan Stadium has had just one kickoff at that time all year and it came against the Penguins of Youngstown State. The other kickoff times have been in primetime (Western Michigan, Michigan, and Boston College) or at noon (UCLA).
Finally, fans won’t have to get to campus at 8 a.m. for a parking spot, they’ll be able to wander to campus about an hour later and tailgate a few hours longer.
The Michigan State vs Penn State kickoff time is perfect.

Like Michigan State, Penn State is winless in conference play this season, but unlike the Spartans, the Nittany Lions have actually parted ways with their head coach. Penn State is likely to be 0-6 in Big Ten play heading into the Senior Day matchup at Michigan State considering the Nittany Lions have to face the buzz-saw that is Indiana this weekend.
Michigan State will get a much-needed bye after losing six straight games and squandering a 17-10 lead with under two minutes left at Minnesota.
But hey, at least we get a coveted 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff for the final home game of the season. I guess we can call that a little victory seeing as we haven’t gotten any of those on the field.
