One day after an embarrassing response to the Central Michigan sanctions and apparent apology, Michigan State announced the launch of ‘Spartan Ventures’.

What is ‘Spartan Ventures’? It’s a program that’s going to help Michigan State get up to speed in the new NIL landscape.

According to the official press release by MSU, ‘Spartan Ventures’ is “designed to advance, promote and support MSU's department of athletics.”

It’s official purpose is as follows:

”Spartan Ventures, and its subsidiary non-profit, tax-exempt corporation Spartan Athletics Foundation, will focus on maximizing revenue generating opportunities, supporting NIL opportunities for student-athletes, and establishes a more focused approach to fundraising, enhancing a first-class experience for student-athletes, donors and external partners.”

J Batt helped design this program and it looks like it’s going to help with both NIL and maximizing revenue generating opportunities. It will focus on fundraising for athletic programs and that’s going to finally modernize Michigan State’s NIL approach. That’s something that fans have wanted to see for years now, and Batt finally brought it to the table just months after being hired.

It was also nice to see Batt say in the press release that Michigan State plans to reclaim its place as a top-10 athletic department nationally.

Spartan fans have said that Michigan State has the donors and resources to be one of the best athletic departments in the nation, and Batt agrees — and he’s spent time at schools like North Carolina and Alabama. He believes that Michigan State belongs in the discussion with the big boys around the country, and this program is only going to aid that.

Finally, some positive NIL news.
