Friday was a good day for Michigan State basketball fans.

Not only is it the start of a long holiday weekend for some, but it also yielded a commitment from a second transfer portal player as Samford's leading scorer, Trey Fort, picked Michigan State.

The commitment of Fort wasn't a huge surprise as it was rumored to be in the works all week after he visited East Lansing but no one knew when he would make it official. There was talk that it could take days or weeks but Fort ended all the speculation and picked Michigan State on Friday afternoon.

With the commitment of Fort, Michigan State now has two incoming transfers this offseason as he joins FAU's scoring leader Kaleb Glenn.

Michigan State's starting lineup is starting to round into form and although the Spartans could still use a backup point guard or another scoring and shooting option, fans are pleased with Tom Izzo using the portal more than he has in recent memory -- I'm not going to count last year because Szymon Zapala wasn't exactly highly pursued.

Adding two guys who were leading scorers for their solid mid-major squads is a plus and it should give the offense some options.

Like I said, though, fans were generally happy about this with some concerned that it wouldn't be enough to replace the production lost with Jase Richardson, Jaden Akins, and Tre Holloman all gone.

Here are some of the best social media reactions to the news.

Michigan State trades a Tre for a Trey and hopefully improves on its shooting with this addition as both transfers shot nearly 40 percent from deep last season. This could be one of the more underrated additions in the portal this offseason as Fort was once the No. 1 JUCO player in the country before he spent a year at Mississippi State.
