Spartan legend Kenneth Walker III just made history as the first running back to win Super Bowl MVP in almost 30 years, and he had one of the best postseasons, yardage-wise, of any non-quarterback since 2000. He truly dominated en route to the Seahawks’ Super Bowl victory.
Michigan State fans got to watch as their beloved K9 marched his way into the history books, becoming the first-ever Spartan to win Super Bowl MVP.
A lot of Michigan State fans were rooting for the Seahawks on Sunday. After years of mediocrity at Michigan State, it was nice to finally be able to cheer for something Spartan football-related. Walker stole the show at the Super Bowl and that has to do something for recruiting, right?
Walker is also entering free agency this offseason, so he’s about to get a big payday.
Obviously Seahawks fans would love to see Walker return next season as the RB1 with Zach Charbonnet coming off an injury, but the former Michigan State star has a big decision to make.
The Seahawks’ front office is already thinking about that potential contract.
Seahawks GM makes potentially-inebriated joke about K9 at parade
The Seahawks held their Super Bowl parade on Wednesday afternoon, and it’s always fun to see the clips from these things because the players are usually uncensored.
Sometimes the owners and GMs are, too.
Trying to get the crowd riled up, Seahawks’ GM John Schneider took the mic and jokingly told fans (while holding a red Solo cup) that Walker tried to negotiate a contract with him right before he got on stage.
The joke… didn’t quite land.

There were a few laughs from the fans, but Walker’s expression told the story. He just shook his head and said that it never happened. He took to social media later to joke that he must have had a little too much to drink because he never said that.
Obviously the joke was all in good fun, but it’s probably best not to get too many fans’ hopes up before contract negotiations truly begin.
Walker is going to get paid no matter where he ends up.
