Michigan State football received some interesting news on Tuesday afternoon.

As Boston College head coach Bill O'Brien met with the media, he was asked a few questions about his starting quarterback, who seemed a little banged up after the Eagles' win over Fordham.

While there was no true injury concern following the 66-10 win over Fordham, it seems as if Alabama transfer Dylan Lonergan was banged up a bit. O'Brien spoke about that to the media on Tuesday.

Michigan State's Week 2 opponent's QB1 missed practice on Tuesday.

Lonergan is still getting some treatments, but O'Brien said he "should be" good to go for Saturday's game against Michigan State in East Lansing.

The talented sophomore quarterback had 268 yards and four touchdowns on 26-of-34 passing against Fordham in the opener. It's a little interesting to see O'Brien allow his starting quarterback to throw 34 passes against an FCS team like Fordham in a 56-point blowout, but it may have cost him a bit of his health. That's not ideal for Boston College's passing game.

The passing game is the clear strength of the offense, as the run game accounted for under 100 yards on over 30 carries. The Eagles averaged under 3.0 yards per rush against Fordham.

That plays right into Michigan State's favor.

As for the aerial attack, Lonergan should be good to go on Saturday, but the fact that he missed practice is a sign that he might not be 100 percent. That's something to monitor heading into Saturday's rematch from last season's thriller in Chestnut Hill.

Expect Joe Rossi to be aggressive with his defensive play-calling on Saturday.
