When is Michigan State football's 2024 spring game?
Michigan State football is entering a new era once again. The Spartans are entering the 2024 season under a new direction as Jonathan Smith was hired to replace Mel Tucker who was fired after an unfortunate incident involving Brenda Tracy.
We won't be getting into that, but Smith takes over with a much more impressive resume than Tucker had although Mel did win 11 games in 2021 thanks to Kenneth Walker III and Co.
Now Smith takes over a roster that isn't exactly lacking talent, but its the experience that might not be at an ideal level. However, he did bring some guys with him like star quarterback Aidan Chiles and NFL prospect tight end Jack Velling. There's plenty of incoming talent and this team should improve drastically from the 4-8 one we saw last year, but is it quite at quality bowl level?
We'll find out a lot more about the Spartans this spring.
I'm interested in seeing Chiles develop a solid rapport with the likes of Jaron Glover, Montorie Forster Jr., Velling, and Nick Marsh. There won't be a shortage of weapons on offense and I think the line should also be vastly better. The defense under Joe Rossi will have everyone's attention. This side of the ball was never effective under Tucker. All eyes will be on Jordan Hall and Co. this spring.
When is Michigan State football's spring game?
Michigan State will host its "Spring Showcase" on April 20 at 2 p.m. ET which likely won't feature a regular scrimmage like we were all hoping, but more of a practice-type scenario.
It's free to the public and there will be plenty to watch for.
