Updating all 13 Michigan State basketball players' performances at Moneyball
12. Gehrig Normand
While Gehrig Normand isn’t a new name to Spartan fans, it sometimes feels like it since he redshirted last season. But Normand will play this year, and his strengths will be a welcomed site to the team.
Normand is best known for one thing, 3-point shooting. He is lethal from beyond the arc and can get hot in a hurry. That is something Michigan State could’ve used last season and will 100 percent be needed again this year.
So far this Moneyball season, Normand is averaging a solid 19.5 points per game. For someone who is primarily an off-the-ball offensive player, that’s very good. And to get even more excited about Normand, he is shooting the ball from deep very well, averaging over three 3-pointers per game.
Normand will be the definition of a role player this season, and there’s nothing wrong with that, every elite team needs them. But so far this summer it seems like Normand is playing his role as an elite 3-point shooter to perfection.
Now let’s hope that continues into the regular season.
