2. Trey Townsend, Oakland

Up next is the recruitment that has personally frustrated me the most. One of the stars of the NCAA Tournament, Trey Townsend, entered the transfer portal just days after he helped orchestrate the biggest upset of March Madness against 3-seed Kentucky.

Michigan State got involved early and was mentioned to have reached out to him almost immediately after he entered the portal.

This is when things took a strange turn. Trey has begun taking visits to other schools, one being Michigan, and has three visits on the horizon. Michigan State however is not one of those schools and 247Sports insider Justin Thind even shared that Michigan State "would've gotten a visit if they wanted one."

Now this just doesn't make sense to me. Trey is one of the top prospects in the portal, and it sounds like had a lot of interest in Michigan State. So why isn't Tom Izzo even bringing him in on a visit? That question unfortunately can't be answered at this time. My hope is that Izzo has another transfer in mind, maybe one we don't even know about yet, or feels very confident that Frankie Fidler will commit to MSU. But this move from Izzo has me scratching my head.

So for the time being, Michigan State is not involved in Townsend's recruitment and he is a name we can all cross of our wish lists.
