The NBA Draft has passed not long ago, and unfortunately no Michigan State Spartans were drafted. This didn’t come as a huge surprise, but the thing that was a surprise is no NBA team had decided to sign either Tyson Walker or Malik Hall to an undrafted free agent deal.

That is until Sunday, when Walker has finally gotten his chance in the NBA.

Jon Chepkevich with DraftExpress.com reported that the Phoenix Suns have agreed to pick Walker up and have him play on their Summer League team.

Unfortunately for Walker, getting an invite to play on their Summer League team doesn’t mean all that much when it comes to making their real roster. But it does mean that the Suns are interested enough to give him a chance. And that one chance might be the only thing Walker needs.

If Walker plays well enough the Suns could sign him as an undrafted free agent. From there he could go directly to their team or to their G-League team, which is probably more likely.

Getting this chance in the Summer League also allows him to play in front of every other NBA team’s scouts. So even if the Suns don’t want to sign him after Summer League, any other NBA team could.

The NBA’s Summer League begins July 12 and will run through July 22. While this is a very small window for Walker to prove himself, the Suns will have many games during this timeframe.

I know all of Spartan nation hopes Walker plays extremely well and signs with any NBA team. It won’t be easy for him since he’s a little undersized, but we all know how talented he can be offensively. So I would not be surprised to see him end up on an NBA team’s roster or G-League roster.
