2. Jonathan Kim game winning field goal

The final two selections were tough for me, and you might think I’m crazy for not putting this at number one, but the second best play from MSU’s win over Maryland was Jonathan Kim’s game winning field goal with one second left on the clock.

There probably isn’t a more pressure packed moment in football than a kicker lining up for a game winning field goal at the end of the game. It’s easy for everyone else on the field throughout the game to get lost in the moment with all the moving pieces each play has, but a field goal is the most basic play in football. All eyes were on Kim and the fate of the game rested on his shoulders, and he stepped up and made the field goal quite easily.

I also wanted to give a shoutout to Kim’s 50-yard field goal at the end of the first half. Most won’t remember this play nearly as much, but it turned out to be just as important as the game winner at the end of the game.
