Tom Izzo comments on AJ Hoggard's future with Michigan State basketball (Video)
Two of the biggest questions surrounding this offseason for Michigan State basketball were what AJ Hoggard and Mady Sissoko would decide to do with their futures.
The questions regarding these two players' futures have already been answered as Sissoko has entered his name into the transfer portal, and Hoggard has declared for the NBA draft while keeping his college eligibility.
Since both players are keeping there college options open, there theoretically is a chance both could return to MSU for another season.
However, Tom Izzo made an appearance Wednesday on the Tim Staudt radio show, and he shared what decision he thinks Hoggard will make this offseason.
On the Tim Staudt radio show on Wednesday, Izzo spoke a lot about the future of his senior point guard AJ Hoggard. Izzo said, "AJ's looking to make a pro career, but he could go back to college. It wouldn't be here."
Tom Izzo dove in a little further on the subject as to why Hoggard won't be returning, Izzo shared that "We have some younger guys" and this ultimately could be a reason for his departure. This is the reason why I think Michigan State is OK with Hoggard leaving, because they have plenty of young players, like Tre Holloman and Jeremy Fears Jr., that are ready to take the next step and replace Hoggard.
Izzo wrapped up his comments about Hoggard's future once again reiterating that he thinks Hoggard will go the pro route. Izzo said, "But I think he'd like to go to the pros."
I know Hoggard had a very up and down career at Michigan State, and the last four years haven't been the best that we have seen at MSU, but he should still be remembered for the good he brought to the program. Hoggard had a lot of great moments in the green and white, and those are the things that he should be remembered for, not the difficult times he had.
Wherever Hoggard ends up, I know I'll be cheering him on, and I hope the rest of Spartan Nation does as well.
