Titans add former Michigan State football safety to practice squad

Michigan State football had several former players make NFL Rosters for the 2024 season. There are also some who are still looking for a pro shot this season.
Kendall Brooks who played in the Spartan defensive backfield in 2021 and 2022, has found himself a new home for the 2024 season. Brooks was a Division II transfer prior to the 2021 season from North Greenville.
He had several impactful moments in the two seasons he spent in the green and white. The 2021 season saw him play in all 13 games primarily on special teams, but he was very impactful in doing so finishing with nine tackles that season.
That led into a big senior season for Brooks who found himself in the major rotation at the safety spot with a lot of injuries in the secondary for a struggling Spartan team that went 5-7 in 2022. Brooks played 11 games that season starting 10 of those games.
He finished the season second on the defense in snaps played. He had a career high 18 tackles against Minnesota that season. He ended his senior campaign with 100 tackles 3.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles.
Though it wasn't enough to get him drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft he got a look with the Arizona Cardinals. He spent the entire 2023 season on the Cardinals practice squad. That led the way for him to make a move to the Indianapolis Colts on a futures contract in early 2024. That opportunity quickly dried up as he was later waived before the start of the preseason. He later signed by the Washington Commanders before be quickly cut.
Now Brooks looks for a fresh start, as the Tennessee Titans have added him to their practice squad which gives him a chance to stay locked in with the team for the foreseeable future this season. That has been the best way to go for recent undrafted Spartan players, including the likes of former teammate Ben VanSumeren, who spent last season primarily on the Eagles practice squad, before making the 53-man roster this season.
The signing of Brooks was confirmed by NFL insider Aaron Wilson on X.
Wishing Kendall the best of luck.
