Saddi Washington is a Spartan. It's actually weird to say that, but it's also refreshing because he comes to East Lansing with a new set of eyes, hoping to get Michigan State basketball back on track after a few down years.

Washington joins the team as the likely coach of the big men along with Austin Thornton, according to a recent report, and he's also an elite recruiter.

In fact, he was named the 2021 Recruiter of the Year by 247Sports after helping Michigan land guys like Moussa Diabate, Caleb Houstan, and Kobe Bufkin. He's one of those coaches who can come in and have an immediate impact on the recruiting trail and that's something that Tom Izzo needs. Izzo is a great recruiter, but adding someone like Washington will only take that to the next level.

And he's already getting started. He's only been on the staff for about a week and he's already working on the trail and selling Michigan State basketball on social media as well.

It's good to see him already on the road, recruiting for the 2025 class and beyond because there's some serious work that needs to be done in order to get Izzo his second national title. This feels like the right coaching staff fit to help make that happen.

Not only is he traveling to recruit with the staff already, but he's selling the program on social media, sharing Xavier Tillman's success.

It may not be long before Washington gets a head coaching job somewhere, so the Spartans need to capitalize on him while he's still on the staff. Great addition for Izzo and Co.
