9. 2021-22

These next few spots get extremely difficult because the next three teams I believe were better than the previously-mentioned 2020-21 team, but they all had similarly disappointing seasons.

I expected the 2021-22 team to make a big jump after the disappointing season one year earlier, but again, the Spartans struggled throughout most of the season. Their record wasn't all that bad at 23-13 (11-9), but I just felt this team doesn't stack up well with the next few on the list.

I think a lot of people might think the next squad on the list (Cassius Winston's freshman season) maybe should go in this spot, but I like that team a lot more compared to this one if they played each other. This team was led by guys like Gabe Brown, Marcus Bingham Jr., and Max Christie, but to me, those guys are more role players than leaders on a team. But still, they found a way to win 23 games and nearly beat 2-seed Duke in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

I could definitely see an argument to have this team be slightly higher, but I just don't think they match up well with the next couple teams on this list.
