Projecting defensive starters for Michigan State football in 2024
Safety 2: Armorion Smith
As I mentioned, the secondary needs a lot of help and that’s what makes the secondary so difficult to predict. So for the second safety we’re going to go with a newer name.
Armorion Smith is entering his third year of college ball. His first season was at Cincinnati where he recorded 20 tackles and one interception.
After his freshman season at Cincinnati, Smith made the move to Michigan State during the summer of 2023. Unfortunately for Smith, he only played in four games last season because he suffered a season-ending injury. However, Smith was a regular player during his four games and saw his snaps slowly increasing throughout the season.
So now that Smith is fully healthy and with his second offseason in East Lansing behind him, I think Smith will be ready to take over one of the two starting safety spots.
Note: I wanted to give the special teams guys some love as well, so up next are my predictions on the starting kicker and punter for Michigan State.
