Projecting defensive starters for Michigan State football in 2024
Cornerback 2: Dillon Tatum
My second cornerback selection is junior Dillon Tatum. By all accounts, Tatum is having an amazing offseason and is ready to take a big step this year.
Tatum has already had a very solid career at Michigan State having played in 21 games and earning nine starts. Last season however was turning into a special sophomore season as Tatum ranked seventh on the team with 45 tackles. Tatum also led the team with seven pass breakups, a number that was No. 12 in the Big Ten.
All these stats are very impressive, but they look even better when you consider he only played in nine games last season. Tatum missed the final three games due to injury, so just imagine how much better his season would have been had he stayed healthy.
But now that he’s had an entire offseason with the new staff and is 100 percent healthy, Tatum without a doubt is ready to help make the secondary much better than it’s been in recent years.
