The 2024 Summer Olympics being held in Paris are officially underway, and Michigan State fans have a lot to cheer for.

Aside from whatever country we may be from, there are also three Spartans heading to the Olympics in two different sports. Two Spartans are representing the United States while the third is representing our northern neighbors Canada, but I’m sure we all as Michigan State fans will have no issue supporting our Canadian Spartan.

So before the Spartans take on the Olympics, let’s learn a little bit about each athlete and when we can watch them compete.

1. Shay Colley, Women’s basketball

The first Spartan competing in this year’s Olympics is Shay Colley. She is a former Michigan State basketball star who will be competing with Canada in Paris.

Colley’s MSU career ended in 2020, but what a stellar career it was. Over her three seasons at Michigan State, Colley averaged 12.3 points, 3.5 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Colley currently plays professional ball in France, so she may have some French fans of her own during her games.

This will be Colley’s second Olympics as she also played with Canada in the 2020 Olympics. The women’s basketball tournament takes place from July 27 through Aug. 11 with Colley’s first game on July 29 against host France. Not the best draw if you ask me, but I’m excited to see how she and Canada fare.
