Predicting the final score of Michigan State football's next 5 games

Michigan State may surprise a lot of people these next five games.

4. Iowa

The Spartans head home after a difficult two game stretch and thankfully have a bye before they welcome Iowa to Spartan Stadium.

One thing that is usually true about the Hawkeyes is that they have a terrible offense with one of the best defenses in the country. However, both units this season appear to be more in the middle versus the extreme ends of the spectrum like we expect.

The Hawkeyes defense is still pretty good, but I am not fearful of them after seeing them give up 21 points to Troy. I also am not afraid of Iowa's offense even thought they have averaged 32.7 points per game this season. The Hawkeyes offense exploded against two overmatched group of five opponents, but they only scored 19 points against their one power four opponent, a 20-19 loss to Iowa State.

So I think this could be a game that MSU could surprise a lot of people and come away with a win. Especially with the Spartans coming off a bye, they will be ready to go and will inch themselves that much closer to getting back to a bowl game.

I do fear a little bit that the team could look ahead to next week with a date against Michigan on the horizon, but I think Smith and his staff will be able to keep the team focused on the task at hand.

Prediction: Michigan State wins 17-10
