Predicting 2024 Michigan State football stat leaders
4. Touchdowns
For this category we’re going to exclude Aidan Chiles as his total passing touchdowns number will probably lead the team, so we’re going to limit it to rushing and receiving touchdowns only.
There are a couple candidates I could see leading the team in touchdowns this season. Carter and Foster are obvious choices as I think they’ll lead their respective categories I already mentioned. I also think tight end Jack Velling could be a sneaky pick here as I could see him scoring in a lot of short yardage situations.
But something’s telling me that Carter could be dangerous this year on the ground and in the air. Last season Carter didn’t score any touchdowns through the air, but he did have 22 receptions so he is capable of getting it done in the passing game.
Prediction: Like I said, I think Nate Carter leads the way for Michigan State this season in total touchdowns. Velling and Foster won’t be too far behind (and maybe even Nick Marsh can be close here too), but I think Carter will have 11 rushing touchdowns and three in the air for a total of 14.
