Predicting 2024 Michigan State football stat leaders
3. Receiving yards
There are a few candidates who could lead Michigan State in receiving yards this fall. Alante Brown, transfer tight end Jack Velling and true freshman Nick Marsh come to mind, but there is really only one player who should lead the receivers this season.
Montorie Foster Jr. is the only receiver on the team with a significant amount of experience to his name. Last season Foster had a solid campaign catching 43 balls for 576 yards and three touchdowns. Now as the definitive wide reciever one on the team, I expect all three of those numbers to go up.
I also think having Chiles under center will naturally increase his production as well. Chiles will be the best quarterback Foster has ever played with, so that should help him improve his overall production as well.
Velling at tight end is an interesting choice, but I don’t think he will see enough big plays this year to challenge Foster. I could however see Velling lead the team in receptions though.
Prediction: I want to predict a 1,000-yard season for Foster, but I don’t think I can do quite that much, but he will be close. So give me Foster with 65 catches and 880 yards this season.
