2. Rushing yards

Now these predictions will get a little more difficult as there will be multiple candidates who could realistically lead the team in each stat. That is definitely true for rushing yards as both Nate Carter and UMass transfer Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams will get plenty of carries this season.

But who will get the most carries? While I think Lynch-Adams could push Carter for the starting running back spot, I think Carter will likely win that battle. But that doesn’t mean he’ll get significantly more carries than Lynch-Adams.

The two will likely split carries pretty evenly with a third running back breaking through and getting some carries as well. So that means Michigan State’s leading rusher this year won’t have a ton of rushing yards, but that’s a good problem to have when you have a solid one-two punch like Michigan State does.

Prediction: I think Carter will lead the way for MSU on the ground, but only slightly over Lynch-Adams. I predict a solid 850-yard season for Carter on the ground with a handful of touchdowns as well. (more to come on that later).
