Nick Marsh listed as one of top 10 freshmen in college football
Jayden Reed, Jalen Nailor, Keon Coleman... Nick Marsh?
Michigan State football has been putting receivers in the NFL for years and it looks like the next star receiver is currently on the roster and he's made himself known on a national level.
After catching just one pass for 11 yards in the season opener against FAU, Nick Marsh knew he had to step up on the road against Maryland if Michigan State was going to pull off the "upset" and adequately replace Alante Brown who suffered a season-ending injury.
And step up he did.
The freshman wideout caught eight passes for 194 yards and a touchdown, including the 77-yard tying score from Aidan Chiles with just under five minutes left.
This explosion in Week 2 was good enough to earn Marsh a spot on ESPN's list of top 10 freshmen through two weeks of play.
Truly, this isn't a surprise. Everyone who had followed Marsh throughout his recruitment knew that he was going to be special as he had interest from just about every major school. He was one of the most highly sought-after receiver recruits in the country and he appears on this list with some other blue-chip wideouts such as Jeremiah Smith, Ryan Williams, and Ryan Wingo.
Michigan State was able to hold on to Marsh through a coaching change and that says a lot about Jonathan Smith and the job he's done in a short period of time.
The Spartans have a budding superstar at wide receiver and the nation is starting to take note.
