Michigan State football has found its new superstar. The Spartans are known for having elite wide receivers, even when the team isn’t very good, and it looks like MSU has found its next star.

Let me introduce you to true freshman Nick Marsh.

At this point, I doubt any Michigan State fan needs to be introduced to Marsh, but the rest of the country has now learned who he is. Marsh was the top recruit in the Spartans' 2024 recruiting class. He thought about decommitting after the Mel Tucker drama, but Marsh held firm to his commitment and thankfully he did.

During a game when Michigan State at times struggled to move the ball through the air, Marsh answered the bell in a big way and is one of the biggest reasons MSU was able to win 27-24 over Maryland.

Marsh exploded for eight receptions for 194 yards and one touchdown. And that touchdown was the biggest of the game when he and Aidan Chiles connected for a 77-yard bomb one play after Maryland missed a huge field goal.

The best part of Marsh’s performance is that he was dominant in multiple ways. He was able to take the top off the defense as seen in the above play, but he also was able to create separation and pick up the short gains to help move the sticks. You don’t typically see that versatility from someone who’s still so young.

The fact that this performance came in only his second career game is wild to me. That’s right, Marsh will be in East Lansing through the 2026 season and could be here through 2027 if he doesn’t go pro early. So this undoubtedly won’t be the last time we see Marsh have a monster performance in the green and white.

Michigan State marches on and finds itself 2-0 as it heads into an easy game against Prairie View A&M next week. The schedule’s going to get more difficult after that, but if Marsh keeps playing this well then the sky’s the limit for the team.
