Michigan State football vs. FAU final odds and a prediction
It's truly hard to imagine having to wait another day for the return of Michigan State football and luckily for Spartan fans, they don't have to.
The Spartans will take the field on Friday to kick off the Jonathan Smith and Aidan Chiles era against Florida Atlantic and Tom Herman. This won't be a walk-in-the-park game, by any means, but it'll be a good chance for the Spartans to gain some early momentum and potentially piece together a 4-0 start before getting into that meat and potatoes part of the schedule.
Michigan State will hope to silence the critics -- and Vegas -- who believe that it won't make a bowl game this season by making a statement in Week 1.
Before we get into the actual matchup on Friday night, let's talk about the final odds.
As of Friday morning, here are the final odds for Michigan State vs. FAU on DraftKings.
Line: Michigan State -13.5
Over/Under: 45
Moneyline: Michigan State -600 | FAU +440
Obviously if you're betting Owls moneyline, you could make a decent chunk of change if they pull off the upset, but there's value there in Michigan State's spread at -110.
What do I think? I'm going Michigan State and the points here.
I do think Florida Atlantic is going to pose a tough matchup for the Spartans, but I wouldn't be shocked to see Smith and Brian Lindgren let Aidan Chiles air it out to get the jitters out of the way. I could see the offense exploding for its best performance in two years.
Plus, that run game led by a much-improved offensive line should be fun to watch. It all comes down to if the defense can finally make some stops -- I think it can.
Prediction: FAU 17, Michigan State 37
