Michigan State football's 2024 starting offensive line reportedly set
Fall camp is well underway and the start of the 2024 Michigan State football season is right around the corner. We are just about a week away from kickoff and while there are some important position battles to sort out, the offensive line looks set.
In fact, according to Justin Thind of 247Sports, Kristian Phillips won the starting right guard job over Gavin Broscious.
This, in turn, has set the starters in stone for the opener.
According to Thind, the starters for the opener against FAU from left tackle to right tackle are Brandon Baldwin, Luke Newman, Tanner Miller, Phillips, and Ashton Lepo.
If this is the starting line for the opener, Michigan State is in a good spot. The starting tackles are solid as Baldwin has experience and was one of the most consistent linemen last season and Lepo rose to the top of the depth chart near the end of the season and shows major potential. Newman was an FCS All-American and Phillips has fought hard for this starting job. And Miller is one of the best offensive line transfers as a former All-Pac-12 center from a year ago.
Behind these starters, Michigan State has guys like Andrew Dennis, Cole Dellinger, Stanton Ramil, Rustin Young, and Broscious waiting in the wings for their opportunity.
Jim Michalczik has one of the most exciting young offensive lines in the Big Ten to work with and it feels like it has a bright future. There's a solid mix of veterans and underclassmen this year and the depth is the best it's been in years.
