If you're anything like me, you love yourself some Courtney Hawkins. The Michigan State football receivers coach has been one of the most consistent assistants over the past five years and it's a major reason as to why Jonathan Smith opted to retain him.

While every other assistant coach moved on, Hawkins was brought back by Smith when the Mel Tucker era officially came to an end.

And it's becoming increasingly clear why that was.

For one, Hawkins helped retain Nick Marsh who was deciding on potentially decommitting and finding a new school. Hawkins played a major role in keeping him in the 2024 class. And he's also a major factor in his development and subsequent Week 2 breakout game against Maryland where he caught eight passes for 194 yards and a touchdown.

Marsh wasn't the only Hawkins product to go off this past weekend, however.

That's right, Jaron Glover (six catches for 84 yards and a touchdown) and Montorie Foster Jr. (six catches for 53 yards and a touchdown) had huge bounce-back games after a shaky opener against Florida Atlantic. Whatever Hawkins said to them during the week worked because they looked like completely different weapons against Maryland.

Oh, you think the Hawkins success was limited to just East Lansing? Nope, his former wideouts in Christian Fitzpatrick (Marshall) and Ricky White (UNLV) also saw a ton of success this past weekend.

Fitzpatrick had the catch of the year against Virginia Tech.

And White had five catches for 111 yards and three touchdowns in a UNLV win.

But the success for former Hawkins receivers didn't stop there. No, it actually extended to the NFL where three of his products went off in Week 1 of the regular season.

The first was Jayden Reed who caught for passes for 138 yards and a touchdown and he rushed for another 33-yard score on an end-around. He's an electric player for the Packers and he wouldn't be where he is without Hawkins.

Reed's success was joined by Jalen Nailor who scored his second career NFL touchdown on a 21-yard pass from Sam Darnold in a Vikings win over the Giants.

And lastly, Keon Coleman (argue with a wall about him being a Spartan) had a solid first career NFL game with the Bills, catching four passes for 51 yards, including this beauty.

Coleman was a missed wide-open Josh Allen bomb away from a 100-yard game and his first career score. Not too bad from a rookie.

Overall, a heck of a week by former Spartan receivers and products of Courtney Hawkins.
