With top cornerback transfer target Jay'Vion Cole committing to Texas on Sunday, Michigan State football fans immediately turned to the "what's next?" phase.

It was tough to miss out on a talented player like Cole who had a connection to Michigan State in the form of recent commit Ed Woods who transferred in from Arizona State. The two were high school teammates back in 2020 and that felt like it might be enough to seal the deal, but Cole won't even take his visit to Michigan State as Texas ended the recruitment this weekend.

With Cole off the board, Michigan State is going to have to look elsewhere for defensive back help.

Well, the Spartans lost a top target to Texas and now they're targeting a transfer from the Longhorns.

Terrance Brooks was a five-star in the 2022 recruiting class and had 20 tackles, six pass deflections, and three interceptions this past season before entering the portal. He has no shortage of potential suitors as 27 schools have already reached out, including Jonathan Smith and the Spartans.

The usual contenders are involved here as Colorado, USC, Oregon, and Miami have all reached out, too, along with Michigan, Florida State, and Nebraska. There are nearly two dozen others on the list but this feels like a winnable recruitment based on the teams involved. Sure, there are some powerhouses, but a good chunk of the schools involved don't feel like major threats.

Michigan State should push hard for a visit here because this one could be a huge recruiting win for Smith and would make up for missing out on Cole.
