A year ago, it felt like Michigan State football couldn't field a healthy team.

Actually, for the past few years, it felt like injuries just piled up and there was nothing the Spartans could do about it. Whether it was a training staff issue or just unluckiness, Michigan State seemed to be missing a dozen scholarship players every single week.

Fortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case heading into the season opener in a brand-new era under Jonathan Smith. The Mel Tucker era yielded dozens upon dozens of injuries and sometimes a good chunk of them came at the same time -- he could never seem to field enough guys for a legit spring game because of injuries.

Heading into Friday's opener, however, it looks like Michigan State will be at full-strength.

Michigan State football vs. FAU injury report

Michigan State

PROBABLE: WR Montorie Foster Jr. (undisclosed)

FAU

OUT: WR BJ Alexander (undisclosed), CB Logic Hudgens (undisclosed)

As you can see, there aren't many injuries heading into the season opener which is what you have to love as a fan: two teams basically at full strength facing off against one another.

Smith did mention that Foster did suffer an injury a couple of weeks ago that limited him during fall camp, but he did recently state that his veteran receiver should be available against Florida Atlantic. He is a necessary piece to the offense's puzzle and it'll need him to thrive.

Let's hope there aren't any serious injuries on Friday night (let's all collectively knock on wood) and Michigan State keeps this good luck streak going.
