Michigan State football vs. Colorado State

Overall Record: 0-1
First meeting: 1998

Back in 1998, Michigan State opened the season with a disappointing 23-16 loss to Colorado State in East Lansing. It remains the only time the two programs have met.

That year, head coach Nick Saban would lead his team to just a 6-6 record overall and a 4-4 mark in Big Ten play. What's interesting is that it was just one year before Saban's program would go 10-2 helping him jump ship to LSU after the season.

In 1998, though, MSU struggled against name-brand teams. Though MSU would score wins over Notre Dame and Ohio State, it would drop decisions to Oregon, Michigan, and Penn State. Of course, that was before Saban was considered the greatest college football coach of all time.
