Michigan State football vs. BYU

Overall Record: 0-1
First Meeting: 2016

2016 is a year that Michigan State fans aren't going to remember fondly. That season, the Spartans managed just a 3-9 overall record and a 1-8 record in Big Ten play.

In week five, MSU hosted BYU in a game that the Spartans likely expected to win. However, the Cougars handed the home team a humbling 31-14 beating to drop MSU to 2-3 overall.

That day, BYU running back Jamaal Williams ran for 163 yards and two TDs including a 62-yard gallop. Meanwhile, BYU QB Taysom Hill passed for 138 yards and a TD while rushing for 47 more yards and another TD.

On the other hand, the home team mustered just 206 yards of total offense with only 121 of those coming through the air. It was a game that signaled that things were headed south in a hurry for the Spartans and it was part of a seven-game losing streak in the middle of that season.
