With the transfer portal officially closed and the Michigan State basketball roster seemingly complete, now's the time when we can really start looking forward to next season. I don't know about you, but one of the most exciting things this time of year in college basketball is when schedules get released.

Basketball is a lot different from football in the sense that their schedules don't get released years in advance. In fact, up to this point in the offseason, we only know about Michigan State's Champions Classic opponent (Kansas) and that MSU will be playing in the Maui Invitational.

That however changed on Wednesday as Michigan State's conference opponents were just announced.

The first thing I am curious to see is who of the new Big Ten teams Michigan State will be playing. The Spartans will only see each of the new teams once as they travel to UCLA and USC and will host Washington and Oregon.

New this year is that each team will only play three teams twice in the same season. That honestly is a little sad in my opinion, but thankfully Michigan State has some exciting home/away matchups this year. MSU will play Michigan, Illinois and Minnesota twice this coming season.

The other key thing to note is that Michigan State got an extremely good draw when it comes to where they play the top teams in the Big Ten. Indiana and Purdue are two teams to look out for next season, and Michigan State only plays them once and it's at home. You couldn't ask for a better draw than that.

Unfortunately it will be quite some time still until the official schedule with dates and game times is released, but that doesn't have to stop us from getting excited. Michigan State needs to have a bounce back season after the rough stretch they've been on, so hopefully this favorable draw will help Tom Izzo and his team have a great year.
