Michigan State basketball players, fans react to Jeremy Fears dunking
In case you missed it, on Monday Michigan State basketball's star point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. posted a video on X of him dunking the ball in front of his teammates. Now this may not seem like a big deal because 99 percent of D1 basketball players can dunk, but I think it's pretty obvious why this is huge for Fears.
Last December, we all know that Fears was shot in the leg back at his hometown, ending his freshman season far too early. At that time, nobody, Tom Izzo included, knew if Fears would be able to play competitive basketball. That doesn't seem to be a concern anymore.
The video spoke for itself regarding how far along Fears' has come in his recovery. But outside of the fact that he is progressing extremely well, the best thing from this video were the beautiful reactions from fans and Fears' teammates.
Here are the best reactions I saw to this video on Monday.
Who knows how much of an impact Fears will have on the team this coming season, but all signs are pointing towards him getting back to the level he was at before this injury. However, that was never the most important thing after this tragedy. All that ever truly mattered was Fears making a full recovery and getting back to living a normal life. Anything beyond that is a bonus.
There still is quite some time before the next season tips off, so Fears has plenty of time to recover even more before the season begins. My best guess is that he will be 100 percent by the time the season rolls around, and if that comes true Fears has a chance to be the greatest story in all of college basketball next season.
